Windeln.de, The German Diapers.com Clone, Raises Further $19.6M For Its Baby Products Online Store

More VC activity in European e-commerce: Windeln.de, an online shop for baby products in Germany (or Diapers.com clone), has raised a ?15 million (~$19.6m) new round of funding from existing investors DN Capital and Acton Capital Partners, while new investors MCI and 360 Capital Partners also participated. We understand that DN capital and MCI co-led the round. The new capital will be used to expand the product offering and improve customer service, as well as enter additional European markets. Claiming to be Germany's largest web store for daily baby products, Munich-based Windeln, offers more than 20,000 products of over 300 brands, that cab be ordered for home delivery. These range from diapers, baby food and skin care to safety products, such as gates and monitors.

2 Sent To Shock Trauma After 4-Car Crash Involving Oil Truck & Horse Trailer On Route 23

FOREST HILL, Md. (WJZ)?Four people were injured after a serious accident at Route 23 and Grafton Shop Road involving three vehicles and a horse trailer.

It happened around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Captain Jeff Long reports the accident also involved an oil delivery truck.

All four people were transported to local hospitals. One person is in grave condition. One person is in serious condition. Two others experienced minor injuries.

Animal Control and a a local veterinarian were on the scene to evaluate the horses.? The horses were uninjured and are being relocated.

Route 23 between Route 24 and High Point Road will remain closed as Maryland State Police continue its investigation.

White House dismisses North Korea video showing Obama, troops in flames

The White House on Wednesday shrugged off a new North Korean web video depicting President Obama and U.S. troops in flames, arguing that anti-American propaganda is less worrisome than the totalitarian state?s ?continuing defiance of its international obligations.?

Asked at Wednesday?s press briefing about the video, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney told reporters that he had read about it but hadn?t seen it.

?I would simply say the provocative propaganda is far less concerning to us and to our allies than provocative actions that violate North Korea?s commitments to the United Nations and the international community, its flagrant violations of its commitments when it comes to its nuclear weapons program,? Carney said.

He added that the U.S. is ?working with our allies to isolate and pressure North Korea appropriately.?

Following last week?s North Korean nuclear test, Obama spoke by phone with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The two leaders ?pledged to work closely together to seek significant action at the United Nations Security Council and to cooperate on measures aimed at impeding North Korea?s nuclear and ballistic missile programs,? according to a White House statement.

The North Korean nuclear issue is likely to be at the top of the agenda when Abe and Obama meet Friday at the White House.

Gold bars anonymously given to Japan tsunami victims

People in a small Japanese fishing port that was devastated by the 2011 tsunami have been receiving gold bars in the post from an anonymous benefactor.

Packages containing gold bars started turning up in Ishinomaki, in Miyagi prefecture, about 10 days ago.

The BBC reports that two tsunami support groups and the fish market have been given 2 kilos of gold each.

The phenomenon has been dubbed a "goodwill gold rush" by one newspaper.

In total, the gold bars received so far are thought to be worth around $US250,000.

The 9.0 magnitude earthquake which hit Japan on 11 March 2011 and the massive tsunami it generated killed almost 19,000 people and triggered a major nuclear accident.
